Southern Lights Are Back – A Special Return Flight from Melbourne
*Flight will only go ahead if numbers are achieved. **No payment required until flight is confirmed to go ahead. ***Prices listed are indicative only
After more than two years since the last Aurora Australis flight, we’re bringing this incredible adventure back — thanks to the passion of the astrophotographers who helped run it.
This one-night-only charter will depart Melbourne in September 2026, flying aboard a Boeing 787 Dreamliner south towards Antarctica, where we’ll chase and capture the breathtaking Southern Lights from 40,000 feet.
While we don’t fly directly over the Antarctic mainland, our path takes us deep into the Southern Ocean and close to the icy edge of the continent — the perfect vantage point for the aurora.
Whether you’re a keen photographer or simply want to witness the magic of the lights with your own eyes, this will be an unforgettable experience — and it could be your last chance to take a Southern Lights flight.

✈️ Our Route South
Every Southern Lights flight follows a unique path. The pilots adjust course throughout the night to chase the brightest auroral displays, ensuring passengers enjoy maximum viewing time.
Typically, the aircraft departs Melbourne, heads deep into the Southern Ocean towards Antarctica, and then makes a series of sweeping passes under the auroral oval before returning to Melbourne.
